Bygone River Thames

This programme brings together old cine films and present day footage to show the changes in England’s most important river over the past seventy years.

Many of these old cine films have not previously been available for public viewing and they show the Thames as a working river with many sights that have now disappeared for ever.

Highlights include:

Sporting and leisure activities on the river through the decades.

From London’s docklands to rural Gloucestershire the Thames is shown frozen, in flood and on those lazy summer days.
